Protestant Church and the Ordination of Women (Vol. 08)
Auguste Zeiß-Horbach
Within the Evangelical Church of Germany (EKD) the ordination of women is seen as a consequence of the reformational baptismal teaching. At the beginning of the 19th century it was hard to imagine in Germany to have a woman preach on the pulpit. More and more early female theologians demanded the right of preaching and to be in full-time ministry. Thus the protestant established regional churches saw themselves forced to review their idea of gender-roles and their understanding of the spiritual office.
