Studying Protestant Theology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites you to explore our traditions, ask questions beyond your own background and discover new things.
Those who study the Old Testament, the New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology, Intercultural Theology and Practical Theology will find many outstanding research fields and collaborations in Bochum that offer orientation; you can link what you have discovered with each other, bundle attempts at answers and ultimately become theologically capable of speaking.
Our interdisciplinary fields of research are:
- Ancient Judaism and Christian-Jewish dialog
- Intercultural theology and ecumenism
- Gender studies and corporeality
- Public and political theology
Collaborations with Tel Aviv University and the Near Eastern School of Theology in Beirut as well as research exchanges with universities in Rwanda, Cameroon and South Africa also form important focal points in teaching and research. In addition, the programs and events offered by the Institute for Religion and Society and the Ecumenical Institute provide important impulses on current theological issues.
