Lynn Kristin Schroeter's doctoral project deals with the coupling of religion and aesthetics by examining the Oberammergau Passion Play. The central theme of the “Passion of Christ” is highly attractive here. How is the suffering of Christ portrayed in the Oberammergau Passion Plays? What is the significance of identification with the suffering of Christ for the treatment of suffering in the modern age? These questions will be answered in an interdisciplinary dialog between theology and theater studies.
