Prof. Dr. Isolde Karle

Has been Professor of Practical Theology, with a focus on homiletics, liturgics and poimenics, at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2001. She was awarded her PhD degree in Kiel in 1995 and completed her habilitation in Bonn in 2000. Isolde Karle holds the directorial position at the Institute for Religion and Society, founded in 2015. She’s a member of the Senate, where she also assumes the role of professorial faction spokeswoman, as well as university preacher. In addition, she’s a member of various research societies, is involved in a number of conferences and consortiums of the Evangelical Church in Germany, and is on the committee of the Ecumenical Church Conference (Ökumenischer Kirchentag) 2021 in Frankfurt.
